I associate these type of raw stone necklaces more with summer but I think it also fits into my winter wardrobe! I got this skirt at a thrift shop eons ago and I hemmed it when I wasn't great at hemming...Oh well, still worked out alright.
I was recently contacted by Canadian brand FOXY ORIGINALS. They asked me to try out two of their products (the next one will be reviewed soon, and hint hint, it matches these earrings!) and do a little review.
I chose the bronze! If you guys didn't notice yet, I love anyyyy feather design, so I wanted these ones as soon as I saw them.
The metal used for the earring is really good quality and not that type you can easily bend. All Foxy jewelry is made from lead free pewter and is hand dipped in 14 karat Gold, Silver or Bronze.
What I like best about Foxy Originals is that all products are produced IN Canada. I will probably talk about this in more detail in another post, but the fashion industry is plagued with sweated products, whether we ignore it or not.
Foxy Originals follow strict adherence to the best practices in health and
safety for those who make the product, as well as for those who will
wear it. I found this video on their website which explains how their products are made.
You may or may not have noticed the shiny new banner on my sidebar - POOR SPARROW. The jewelry boutique features eclectic pieces and mixes modern with vintage. I received two necklaces from them to review and style.
Gotta love unique, pretty packaging! These cute birdy boxes go great with the name of the shop.
I chose the rabbit medallion and the amethyst crystal necklace. Two very different designs and I love them both! I styled the rabbit first, along with another one of my skirts from myetsy. Doesn't this type of plaid remind you of Sherlock Holmes? Or is it just me?
This skirt is available for purchase in my etsy shop. Size small!
The colour looks so pretty against the white snow. I'm a
bit over winter now, but since we haven't had a good snowfall until the
last few days, I can still appreciate how gorgeous it is. Would have
been even more awesome around Christmas though!
top from costa blanca, skirt from flattery, shoes from forever 21.
This was an outfit I wore a few days ago to go shopping. Sadly, Forever 21 was not good to me. I just want Spring/Summer stuff so I can shop for my trip! I don't need much clothes - but I do need some sandals and ked-style sneakers.
In other news, I went to Earls tonight (not sure if it's a Canadian restaurant or what, but definitely one of my favourites) and had my beloved spinach and feta dip. So so good.
boots and skirt from forever 21, scarf c/ochicwish, feather pin from lucky vintage, sweater c/o girlfriends material, coat from costa blanca.
I have a new layout/blog design. The photo for the header was taken with my outfit shots which will be posted tomorrow. I'm actually quite happy with everything (so far, hopefully I don't get sick of it in a month). Looks clean, I think. I still have to work on the sidebar a bit. Yay for reading week!
In other news - what do you guys think about the metal choker/collar necklace trend? I rather like it - especially when put beneath a collared shirt. It adds a nice detail. It's all over lookbook right now;
And I was able to try it out for myself with a forever 21 necklace. It was an xmas present from my friend! It's actually a sailor-moon-esque heart, love it.
collar necklace from forever 21, bow necklace from rings and tings, boots from romwe, skirt and top from sirens
I kinda like these boots...but I'm going to return them. I think I'd prefer a fitted boot. I just fell for the hidden wedge, but they aren't exactly the most practical for school (Still, quite easy to walk in.) The shirt, c/o Your Eyes Lie, is a crop top and it says "Wrong". Interestin, right?
I like shirts with words, and Raimundo's brand Acid Reign is coming out with their own line following that theme. Excited! I'm definitely doing a post when the new stock is released.
shirt from your eyes lie, skirt from wet seal, sweater thrifted, bag from urban outfitters, boots from spring.
I would probably like it more if there was more activities surrounding the holiday (think: Christmas). Yes, I am asking for more commercialization.
I have a secret desire to host an amazing Valentine's Day
party one day though...Like tonight's episode of Glee. I want to
replicate the Sugar Shack ;)
Woo, another leopard item. Makes any plain outfit a bit more interesting :). This one is from Lulu*s (brand: MINK PINK). Well, there's one more week until reading week - and of course it's the busiest! I'd rather have stuff due before than after though. Now I can actually relax during reading week (except for work, blah).
I wanted to share a movie that I recently watched with you.
It's a bit of an older movie so some of you may have heard of it - DANCER IN THE DARK. It stars Bjork and is about an immigrant woman living the United States. She is slowly going blind, wants to be in a musical, and is trying to save up money for a surgery for her son; who will suffer from blindness too if he isn't operated on.
She imagines musical scenes around her so the movie has some musical songs as well.
The trailer doesn't do it justice so have one of the songs instead;
It was completely tragic, sad, moving and thought provoking. I highly recommend it!
Have any of you heard of Glossybox? Basically, it's a subscription service where each month you pay to get a cute box filled with 5 different samples of products (sometimes more). This box is great for anyone who gets nervous when investing in beauty products (me) that they don't know will work. (Seriously, I was in Shopper's Drug Mart for like an hour trying to decide whether or not to buy coverup. End story; I'm going to Sephora instead soon haha).
Glossybox is new to Canada (Founded in Germany) and will be 15 dollars to recieve each month.
I was super excited when I received mine. The pink box/wrapping was adorable.
& Those are the items I got!
The prevage night cream is supposedly 130 bucks for the actual bottle or something - YIKES! Let's see if it works.
The nail polish was super lovely and I needed some too!
I got two different creams (Oscar de la Renta Body Lotion and Ahava hand cream) both of which smell amazing.
The lipstick tube is actually mosturizing lipbalm, it works well!
I found the last item really interesting. Makeup has a lot of bacteria on it, and this brand "Beauty So Clean" provides sanitizer mists which you can spray over your makeup to safely sanitize it. It also came with two wipes. Interesting.
I also wore clothes today, surprise surprise.
A bit of a plain outside, and a bit of continuation from my last post...
Stubby legs are mine, dress c/o clubcouture, boots from forever 21, sweater from the gap, necklace c/o rings and tings.
