I was wondering when yellow would have its moment in the sun; and it seems the time has come. Which is why I’ve released all prior biases to this bright colour and gone all-out on my recent vacation to the Dominican Republic (review coming soon)!
In addition to getting my nails done in (bright) yellow shellac polish, here are some other yellow goodies I brought along.
1.Honey sunglasses from Urban Outfitters. One of those items I tried on and said “yep” and bought them without further adieu. Always a win in my books when you don’t have to hum and haw over an item.
2. Sun Bum SPF from Boathouse. My boyfriend joked that this stuff smells like the yellow banana-flavoured medicine we all took as a kid, but I LOVED the smell. Besides, that medicine was delicious.
3. The fabulous Kanken Backpack from Fjallraven Canada. As part of a collaboration, I chose to receive the Classic Kanken in Warm Yellow. After FINALLY realizing how much better it is to travel with a backpack rather than a large purse, I had been borrowing my boyfriend’s backpack while keeping an eye out for one of my own – and now I have it! When I received the bag, it came with an interesting little history of the company, which started in the 1950’s when 14 year-old Åke Nordin from Örnsköldsvik in Northern Sweden designed a backpack that better distributed weight across the back. By 1960 Fjällräven became the first to commercially make and distribute framed backpacks. I enjoyed using this bag throughout the trip (and especially on our day trip to Puerto Plata) and even saw another guest in the resort with the same bag in black. If you want a simple, no fuss, trendy backpack, this is it.
4. A simple yellow tank top. While I couldn’t find the exact yellow tank top I wore this trip, I thought this one from Sans Souci could fill its place.
Do you ever pack to a specific theme when travelling? Tell me about it in the comments!
