Remember way back when I wanted a feather tattoo?

Well...I got one!

A fake tattoo, that is. Fake Tattoos contacted me to try out some of their designs! Their tattoos are all nontoxic...bonus! Haha.

It was really easy to apply- I imagine all of you put on a fake tattoo at least once as a kid with a wet cloth. It only takes 30 seconds to apply one of these bad boys. Temporary tattoos are pretty useful if you want to feel hardcore for a day or also if you want to see how a tattoo would look before you got it.

The tattoos can last 3-10 days, depending on skin type.

Oh, and this dress c/o of Your Eyes Lie has a really awesome MOON graphic on it. I really like dresses with interesting images.

I'M GOING TO AUSTRALIA!

As many of you may or may not know, Raimundo came to visit me last summer. Next it was my turn to visit him! I will be going at the end of April and staying for one month. Since he lives in Sydney, we will be doing lots there. We also plan on going to Queensland. Even more exciting...we booked a plane trip & backpacking tour for FIJI!

Whenever I go on trips, I always say I'm going to take a lot of pictures and never do. This time will be different. Especially becaues I would like to share my trip on here! Eeee...excitement.

This outfit was pretty comfy, even though I was wearing a dress! Everything else is big, oversize and cozy.

Also, I don't think I've actually ever owned a dress like this. It's sort of boho-y which normally isn't exactly my style but I just love it! The different colours make for endless combinations too. I went with earth tones.

I dunno if animal prints are in or not, but I can't seem to get enough of leopard print lately! I think I adore it so much because it goes with any deep hue and just gives the outfit something a bit more unique.

It seems like forever since I posted. I've been pretty busy lately. Looks like this school year is going to be preeetty busy.

This weekend, however, was filled with birthday parties - my friend Janelle's on Saturday and my Grandma's on Sunday.

So that is my...excuse for not posting! Four days between posts used to be the norm for me but for the past few months I've tried to get more in.

NEW YEARS EVE OUTFITS

Since I won't be able to blog tomorrow, I figured I would do my New Years Eve party post today!

Here are three outfit ideas, dresses c/o Windsor.

I think number 2 is my favourite! While I will just be partying at a small bar tomorrow, it was fun to think of outfit ideas for these fancier numbers ;)

1. Semi-formal Chic

This is the least formal of the three, featuring Windsor's strapless form-fitting royal blue dress.

I like blue+gold together (even at the risk of looking like a BLUE BOMBER fanatic), so I paired it with gold accessories. I thought the leopard bracelet was a cute touch. Adding a blazer takes away from fanciness/the 'cocktail dress' vibe, but it gives this look a bit of a more grown-up appearance. I kept my hair bone straight, which is always simple and chic.

2.Silver & Black Sweetheart

I really adore the shape of this black dress, especially the sweetheart neckline and the cake-like layered tiers! Nothing says "Happy New Years" like a metallic, so this dress is pretty much perfect for the occasion as it is flecked with a silvery material. I included my favourite headband in this look as well as some costume jewerly diamond rings. And the dress looks perfect against the snow, am I right?

3. Timekeeper

This is a more romantic look to welcome the New Year. The mauve dress is simple yet very formal, and also features flecks of metallic; which are concentrated at the top of the skirt and gradually lessen on the way down. I curled the ends of my hair for this look and included my clockwatch necklace and nude heels. You can be in charge of the countdown with this look.

Today's look features a clutch from khlees. I really like it, because it's leather and mmm I love the smell, and also because of the embossed design. Cool. Sorry about the hideous roots. Um, they are charming, maybe? As you can see, my natural colour is a nasty dirty blonde.

Well, this website is made justttt for you ;)

I was recently contacted by UnitedStyles, which is one of the most unique clothing shops I have come across! Basically, you can design your own item of clothing, picking from a variety of styles, prints and colours.
UnitedStyles is custom in terms of fit as well. When you order an item of clothing, they send you a black sample of your pick so that you can try it on and make sure it fits perfectly. If it doesn't, you can tell them to tailor parts of your custom item.

I have no bird-print things so I decided to go with this print while designing my dress! It was actually hard to pick a colour but I decided to go with dark navy and white, so that I could match it with a variety of accessories.

Hey everyone!

Well exams are through, and I had a little Christmas get-together. Yes, a sequin skirt was put to use. The night was filled with delicious foods (sadly I did not get photos of; spinach/artichoke/cheese dip, baked brie, salmon pastry things, nom nom), catching up and silly photos.

Gifts were exchanged. The hats are from Mylaine and Leo (sisters) and are adorbs. Earlier in the day I did some outfit shots with this gorgeous coat from Miss Patina. It's so luxurious, I can't really get over it! Faux fur.

The thrifted item is the shirt. It has a bit of a dark colour scheme, but I focused on the red. Overall the look is a bit vintage.

SO I got my 2nd package from the little thrift collab I'm doing...
A little tougher for me to style these items ( and I left out one of the items because it just did not do anything for me on the day I was styling everything), I think I was just in a bit of a fashion block!

Anyways, one of the items I styled was a pair of high waisted shorts! I usually only get into wearing shorts in the winter in March or April when I'm pining for spring - but I wanted to make these somewhat work so I rolled them up.

I love finding other Canadian blogs - and this one is simply incredible!It is a shared blog between two cousins - kurtis and alyssa - called The Ordinary Peoples. I enjoy men's fashion but for this feature I will be focusing on Alyssa's fashion - but definitely check out their blog if you want to see Kurtis's outfits and in general, their amazing photography!

As you can see, Alyssa is blessed to live in one of the best places in the whole world - especially around the Christmas season!
Nothing is better than snow in December. Nothing.

I love her use of layers we have a lot of similar tastes - like chunky cardigans, scarves and envelope bags.

One of the things that draws me to revisit her blog time and time again was the personality she puts into every post and into every picture - her eyes are simply beautiful and so expressive.

I usually stay away from light colours in the winter, but this mint looks SO lovely against the snow. I want that bag!

Sorry there was an error when it came to me measuring the inches!!
To clear things up, sizes are as follows (of the natural waist line);
Size 6 - 26 inches approx
Size 8 - 26.5-27 inches approx
Size 10 - 27.5-28 inches approx

The deadly combination of brown and black. I think it's fine as long as you have different textures. (Ex; in this outfit I have lace, knit and leather)

Grand Opening of SHOP FLATTERY!

That's right, I have finally started an etsy shop. My closet shop will also still be open, since that is where I can sell non-vintage items. In fact, I've added two items. Click here.

It was a huge learning curve but it all has been worth it.

The shop features my handmade skirts in various unique fabrics. Some are gathered while others are pleated.

I have also begun collecting vintage pieces to sell - mostly from the 1980's.

In my struggle of whether or not to wear more green or red for the holiday season, I decided on green. For now.

My day was spent hunting for a new Christmas Tree with mom (Yes, we have a fake one :{ ), and a 5 minute visit to the mall turned into three hours. Totally worth it as I got some of my Christmas shopping done (You know, for that guy who lives on the other side of the world and it takes a million years for anything to get there).

This embossed bag is from ChicWish and I really love it! It's very unlike any other bag I have, and it opens from the top in a box-shape. I always appreciate with items have really nice details like this bag has. It really makes any plain ol' outfit more interesting.

Fashion talk aside, this weekend I went to see Immortals.
& meanwhile all across the world Classics professors wept.

Other than the clear innaccuracies, the visuals of the movie and action scenes were pretty cool. The thing that bothered me more than anything is that the oracle and Theseus were slaves for a bit, then escaped and journeyed for days. Yet her hair was still in perfect ringlets and her makeup was flawless. Yeah right.

This skirt is the last item from the first part of the swap! As far as I know, the rest of the items will be on their way to me soon. ;)

Normally I wouldn't pick a print like this. I like floral, but normally I like more 'clustered' flower patterns. However I was surprised that the simplicity of it really looked nice. I paired it with a Romwe knit sweater to give it a more casual feel.

Oh, and I tend to love fishtail skirts.

Things are getting a bit busy with school now. Two essays and one assignment left until exams. Really though, this semester hasn't been too bad.

Today I watched an amazing movie that I have to recommend to all of you. It's called, "Another Earth". It might sound like a sci-fi, but it's really more of a movie about life itself, coping and self-discovery.

It snowed today, but I doubt it will last before melting again. Still, it was rather nice to wake up to that white blanket over the lawn. These outfit shots were taken before I sent the swap package out, hence no snow. The striped shirt is the item which is part of the blogger swap I'm participating in.

I admire her for her many vintage outfits and her casual style - although she frequently wears skirts (lots of maxis!) and dresses, she never sends off an overly girly image.

Pavements (Thrift Blogger Swap #1)

See that squiggly line leading way up north into no-mans-land? Oh yeah, that's me.

I recently became involved in thrift swap with other bloggers and I was the first one to receive part 1 of the packages! There was one item I couldn't style because of sizing issues, but the rest were great. It was a good experience to style things that I might not necessarily pick out, because it really shows that you can take anything and make it work in an outfit!

That being said, Love Charles Vintage picked some rather nice classic items which were rather cute and not toooo difficult to style!

The first item I will show you all was a green vest. I normally don't do vests for whatever reason, but this one really helped complete a casual fall look.

November has rolled around and our weather is still lovely. I can definitely say it's been a great fall - especially because I can actually get away with wearing just sweaters outside and still being comfortable.

Still, I think I'm ready for the snow...Will I regret saying that later? Probs.

My mom took this photos by some random lake in the city. The ducks definitely came over to be in the photos, they want to be famous! I love spending time with my mom, especially shopping days!

THE OWL // Happy Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I love Halloween and I think it should be about creativity so I always make my own costume. I wanted to be some kind of animal, and I love owls - so I finally decided on being a barn/forest owl. (Good job to the person who guessed that on my other post ;) )
For this one, I found a brown long sleeved top and a brown skirt. I sewed them together into a one-piece (I couldn't find a long sleeved brown dress). I bought a piece of furry fabric at fabricland to make the chest piece.

My wings were made of sheer fabric that I bought from fabric land and cut into the shape of wings. I sewed them to the outfit, and then the fun began.
I had ordered 800+ feathers off ebay, and bought some white ones from Walmart. Thus began the process of handstitching about half of them on. Once I had the bottom layer of the wing done, I glued the rest on the top to create more fullness. For my shoes I glued feathers on the front, which actually didn't affect my walking for the night.

I backcombed my hair and shoved a few feathers in to really add to the dishevelled owl look.
I bought a plain mask from Michaels craft shop and hand painted it like the face of an owl. I added two feathers to the "eyebrow" and also made a little beak out of paper !

At the social and the bar, let's just say everyone knew where I had been. Feathers EVERYWHERE!

I always wanted to try out a cape and I got the opportunity to with this lovely blue Chicwish cape! (It's on sale!) The material is super soft (Wool blend) and I was surprised at how warm it kept me.

I felt pretty unique wearing it around campus because I haven't seen many people wearing capes. The dark blue matches a lot in my wardrobe so I had problems with making up my mind as to what to style it with!

The only problem with capes is that you have limited arm movement since the slots in the sides aren't like sleeves. Or maybe I'm just a little challenged for cape-wearing.

The glittery purple shirt underneath will likely be worn a lot by me in the coming months since after Halloween is through I get this weird obsession with all things sparkly for the holidays. It's from Girlfriends Material and yes you can still use the coupon code gfmf30 for 30 percent off :)

It is easier to write when I'm in a calm mood though.

I was a little sad that this year I didn't get a chance to make candy and caramel apples. I suppose I could make them in November, they just wouldn't be halloween themed.

For now, I lament.

I found this bright blue pussybow blouse at value village - quite a steal. I paired it with this maroon skirt from Miss Patina, which has a lovely shape. It also features a little key & lock belt - a great example for what Miss Patina ought to be known for - DETAILS!

Nail Wraps

Nail wraps. Tacky? Maybe. This doesn't stop me from eyeing them. These are the prints i was most attracted to, and I'm especially feeling the reptile-esque ones and the plain metallics. I got some sparkly cheap types from Sally Hanson so we'll see how those work out! I'm curious to see if they last longer than regular nailpolish, or if they just peel off easily. It was cold so I tried my headband turban thinger from Aldo. I really like it, but it's kind of a hassle to wear because I have to keep adjusting it and my hair poofs up if I don't fix it regularly! It might work better if my hair was in a pony...

Hey everyone! Meet Nora, from Valley of the Dolls, or alternatively, from Norway! Her style has a vintage flair, which I always find myself drawn to. A lot of her outfits are reminscent of the 50's and 60's.

Her pale skin is gorgeous against the contrast of the colours she wears, and even more so against her lips, often clad in striking red.

Her photos are always crisp and clean, and I adore her blog layout. Her blog is a great read if you enjoy anything vintage. She often features old-time movie actresses and posts a ton of great images.

Bonus: She also seems to adore cats. What could get better?

I think I'm developing a growing obsession for cute lanterns. I want to take one and galavant through the forest at night with my doe and owl companions. Only problem, I have none. I'm kinda kicking myself for not buying a cute vintage blue one that I saw at Value Village.

Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Kit Review

Hey everyone!

Anastasia of Beverly Hills sent me their brow kit to review.

I decided to compare the results from the Anastasia Brow Kit to my old method.

Before I used:

And ended with:

You can see the brow curve is a little more "sharp" and the front of the brow is more rounded.

Next I tried the brow kit.

I was a little disappointed with the stencils. I think i could have used an option that had the same width as the petite arch but had a higher arch. I found that the "tail" of the brow was way too thick on the medium arch, so I couldn't use that one.

I decided to use the petite arch.

The stencils are rather hard to hold while using the brush. I got the general area filled but then I put the stencil aside and filled the rest in without having it held up.

I put the wax on first (far left) and then the dark brown brow filler. It's a lot more work than my previous method, but I like the wax/powder material better than using a pencil. The palette also comes with some shimmer to put on the corner of your eyes and under your eyebrow.

Final result:

As you can see, the new brow is a little more square. I felt it helpful to round the front a bit more and then use my eyebrow brush to blend the colour.

There is little difference, except that the 'after' brows are fuller and a little more square/gradual.

PROS

- the powder product is great and lasts through the day.

-I like how the wax keeps your brow hairs in place

-angle brush works well

-lovely packaging

CONS

-the stencils are difficult to use and there needs to be more options

-the generic arch/shape they provide might not work for every face

-stencils are very "square"

-you still need a eyebrow brush to blend the colour into the hairs after

FINAL VERDICT:

I prefer the new brow shape that I achieved with the kit. It's a bit more refined and less extreme compared to how I used to shape my eyebrows before. I think the kit would be helpful for someone who has no brow shape to begin with, and needs guidance on which shape to go with.

I give this product 6.5/10

Ahh, October. The month of midterms and essays. I'm not too stressed though, as my midterms are pretty spaced out. One of them is open book and we are told not to memorize anything, so that seems like it will be pretty amazin.

Meet Sarah of the stylish heart. She's from England, and as if that isn't charming enough, just look at her style.

I would describe her style as primarily vintage (See vintage bags, bowler hats, tons of skirts), but it often has modern, rocker touches like her studded leather jacket, graphic tees or leather boots.

What I enjoy most about her style is her colour choices. She dares to mix red wth purple, and dabbles in more traditional colour combinations like mint and camel or brown and mustard. Oh, and as you can see she likes stripes! I've always had difficulty styling stark black/white pieces but I'm definitely inspired by her stripe usage :)

Jessica Celebre of The Tragic Sense has definitely caught my eye in the past few months.Her blog is simple, sweet and features her impeccable fashion and photography.

There has always been a place in my heart for those who embrace cute, vintage styles. All of her looks stem from vintage inspirations, and some have a modern twist added in. Her styles embody a romantic vibe that is both reflected in the clothes itself as well as her poses and settings.
Asides from clothing, her hair and makeup is adorable to say the least. I adore her blunt bangs paired with her long, soft curls. Her eyebrows are pretty much my dream eyebrows (if only, if only).

Helloooooo!

Yesterday at school I sported this marvelous autumn outfit. Nectar Clothing supplied me with the amazing leaf-toned garb, and I decided to wear some cheap bow ties I got for like 3 bucks on ebay !

The dress is amazingly light and has great movement. I liked the loose, casual feel of it matched with the chunkier, heavy boots! These boots will do me well this winter, as they are quite tall (to mask my legs from the horrible winds) and also actually have grip on the bottom unlike most of my other boots.

As for the timeclock necklace - it's a working clock and was quite useful through my day. I felt kinda regal glancing at my timeclock necklace for the time.

oh, and the packaging was really cute ! I love their business cards/stickers.

Those Western Winds

It's always fun finding new colour combinations ! I have probably never worn orange and purple together, and I think that it's the dark burnt tones that make it work.

This weekend I mainly just worked on homework. For my History of Christmas class, I'm doing an essay on CHRISTMAS IN HARRY POTTER! Oh my gosh, this is pretty much the best combination of topics ever. Cats are even involved because Hermione turns into a cat-like creature on Christmas, teeheee.

You know, I really like it when I DON'T have to take photos in my yard with my tripod. I love bokeh and it's pretty difficult to get when you take your photos yourself. My mom took these photos. Outdoor photos are harder than they look though, especially here. Either it's obscenely sunny (I hate sunny lighting) or terribly windy. These were taken on one of those windy days.

I went shopping with my friends, which I actually haven't done in so long! Don't get me wrong, I love online shopping too, but there's something much better about actually wandering around a mall in search for that dream item.

I found this feather ring at Aldo. Another one for the collection! I also bought this wine headband/turban? It reminded me of those one I saw on New Look.

Believe it or not, this lovely green chunky scarf is from Ardene! Oh the things you can find when you actually look...

I decided on my Halloween costume today, but I can't tell you! You'll have to wait and see what I post on Halloween ;D (or pre-Halloween, since Halloween is on a monday this year and I'll be going to a social on the Saturday).

I got this shawl last year from Joe Fresh ( which has sooo many nice things right now ), and it's pretty much perfect for chilly fall days. I paired it with a sheer top from Romwe which is longer in the back, my beloved floral skirt and adorable reindeer earrings also from Romwe. The only problem with them is that they are a little heavy and they would hang forward slightly.

I came across the store New Look. It's a UK shop and I had never heard of it! The prices are actually rather reasonable compared to some other UK shops I've browsed through. I fell in love with a bunch of their fall items so I decided to make a little wishlist collage. Hope you like the items I chose as well!

I'm taking a Religious Indian Art and Architecture course, and of course there are symbols of elephants found frequently in that type of art. Now I've begun to notice elephants everywhere. I even remembered that I own a tiny elephant necklace, which has been tucked away for some time. We have a micro-assignment where we have to bring in an item that reminds us of Indian art. I'm bringing in the necklace.

Strangely enough, I found these pants (cut into shorts) at the Value Village 50 percent off sale. I want more elephant motiffs in my wardrobe!

In other news, I saw that movie 'Contagion' this weekend. It was pretty scary, since it probably could easily happen in the world. I've never been too much of a germaphobe, although I love the feeling of having freshly cleaned hands so I tend to wash my hands a lot through the day. Half way through the movie there was a strong scent of hand sanitizer through the theatre...

There were a lot of loose ends in the movie and that bothered me. I'd probably give it a 6/10 rating.

One more thing. I don't have a big speech to make, but I'd just like to acknowledge the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. My heart is with all the people who lost loved ones that day.

I had my first day back to university yesterday!

I really think I'm going to enjoy the classes I have. All my teachers seem very friendly and approachable. I make good use of 'rateyourprofessors.com' before choosing my classes. I recommend this method to everyone.

School starts on thursday so I've been preparing for that.

Although, I really don't need much other than a few scribblers and pens. I prefer to take as little to school as possible, as U of M is pretty huge and dragging a huge bag from class to class isn't pleasant at all.

Here is another transtional outfit I put together. The top from ClubCouture is actually a really long 'boyfriend' shirt that you can wear with tights, but for now I decided to tie the long bits into a casual knot.

My mom & sister come home from Greece today. It's been in interesting week without them! Me and my Dad managed the house very well, I think! I still missed them of course.

Eevee was going crazy for the whole week. She has quite the voice now and meows constantly! I think she misses them.

Speaking of cats, this cat-print blouse is from Romwe. I think I should start collecting cat clothes. Yes?

Woah! I am loving the new blogger. It seems much less finicky.

I had my 2nd interview with the GAP today. It went alright but I was a little absent because they told me I could work anywhere from 2-5 shifts a week. I don't want to quit my other job (Deli), so I was hoping only for 2. Unfortunately they cannot guarantee that to me. I feel like it would be too stressful to have to worry about another schedule, and I think it would be best for me to spend the year focusing more on my blog, shop and Deli job, which is unionized and therefore I don't have to work more than I want to. I don't like having to choose, because I really wanted to get some fashion retail experience, but I have to pick what is best for me for right now.

This floral blouse is one of the items I picked up from Value Village! I really liked the colours and when I got home I decided to style it with my forever 21 mustard skirt and this red bag my mom & dad got me from Vegas :)
